Presentation
The universe takes place on four interconnected planets. This world combining magic and technology is at first pacifist. However, each of the planets has been struck by a major catastrophe that has irremediably altered its environment.
The adventures of Brume are varied in places, antagonists as well as in objectives to achieve: explore a toxic lair, infiltrate the temple of a bloodthirsty sect, thwart political plots, find back your magic flavoured beer! And so many others...
Fone
Nicknamed the Beach Planet, Fone has it all: warm sunshine, good wind, and above all, many taverns!
Its people, the Humans, live only for the journey and the encounter of others. Open-minded, they are also very unpredictable, capable of the best as well as the worst.
Species Traits: ability to bend fate in their favor, higher chance of critical successes and failures.
Voras
Voras is not so warm, between the toxic air, the mushroom forests and the particularly hostile fauna.
However, the Vagryms have been able to develop their cities under huge acclimatized greenhouses. Limited space and resources have sown solidarity and discipline in their souls, but also faith. Superstitious, they nevertheless love this nature that gives them so much.
Species Traits : divine power, specialization and attributes of a cat at the price of a more frail body.
Utha
From the sky, the titanic flying city of Melutha taunts the arid sands and ruins of previous civilizations. Above, it is rather buildings and factories that strike the view.
Their occupants, the Ecates, are in a perpetual quest for technological progress, but also, it must be said, for comfort! Fond of arts and science, they do not, however, possess half the courage of other species.
Species Traits: large magic pool and a less draining raw magic, but at the cost of reduced overall capabilities.
Nier
Far from the sky, the cities of Nier bustle among the immense tunnels that run through its earth's crust. It is dark down below, yes, but also warm and dry, and with the creatures that populate the Abysses, one never gets bored.
The Melkiors are, however, well prepared against the assaults of the Sleptis. And then, as war-mongers and hard workers, they are hardly satisfied with an easy life. The success that they deserve so much nevertheless feeds their pride.
Species Traits: superior build and overall abilities, but hard to expect any advantage from fate.
Aegans
The rare Aegans, survivors of death, roam the world in their fragile body shell made up of magic and flesh. Given their amortality, they prefer to remain joyful players, certainly a little reckless, with a very special empathy.
Species Traits: telepathy and great power, but with a lower constitution and a dependence on the Brume.
Magic & technology
Far from opposing each other, these two fields combined allow unmatched feats, whether it be aircrafts or floating cities, product manufacturing, or towers capable of calming storms.
Magic is harvested in the form of a purple powder called the Brume. However, magic also flows through each individual’s veins. The use varies according to the degree of mastery of each, ranging from the simple act of lighting a kitchen fire to trigger infernos. Nobody would however think of committing such an act...
Characters
You survived your Apotheosis, a psychic phenomenon that made you powerful. This new force opens up many opportunities.
Play as a character from poverty or from a bourgeois family, play one of the 5 species that populate the universe, one of the 24 classes in the game or your own, use technology to your advantage and push the potential of your magical Element to its maximum.
Each class represents a profession or an archetype, for example the Artificer, the Paladin or the Clockmaker, and offers 5 unique abilities that follow the associated magical Element.
Beyond your abilities, you can freely use your Raw Element to trigger effects as useful as crazy!
Many yet simple choices come to refine your character, such as the weapon. Will you leave with a Sclier, an axe whose engine can heat up the blade for extra damage, or with an Evalone, the Melkiors' Bible, to reduce your opponents to a pile of ash?
System
Brume comes with a very accessible D20 system. Success rolls are based on 3 test characteristics ranging from 1 to 7 points that represent your character's abilities: his Physique , his Mental and his Social. You can then add one of your 3 Talents for a +3 bonus.
These areas of knowledge and know-how, such as Mechanic, Scientist or Leader, reinforce a wide choice of actions. They also allow you to obtain additional information and possibilities!
There are about fifteen scenarios of Brume, some of which have been published on the Roll20 Marketplace.
